The Innovation Lab at the С²ÝÉçÇø Center for Educational Innovation and Opportunity is an instructional hub for STEM learning, driven by team building and collaboration. We provide opportunities for students and individuals of all ages, abilities, and disciplines to learn by designing creative solutions to real-world challenges.
The Innovation Lab is an С²ÝÉçÇø community outreach facility that is relocating to the С²ÝÉçÇø Peninsula Center in Hampton, VA, in June 2025. Previously located in the Brooks Crossing building in Newport News' Southeast Community, adjacent to Downtown, the new space will allow us to expand our offerings and better serve the community. Since opening in August 2019, we have been dedicated to fostering creativity, innovation, and problem-solving through hands-on STEM education.

We are excited to invite you to the С²ÝÉçÇø Innovation Lab Open House on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at our new Hampton location at the С²ÝÉçÇø Peninsula Center (600 Butler Farm Rd).
This special event will showcase С²ÝÉçÇø’s four Lab Schools, highlight opportunities for innovation and collaboration, and celebrate the official launch of our new Makerspace Series. We would love for you to join us for one or both sessions:
Session 1: Faculty, Students & Industry Partners Showcase (11:00 AM – 1:00 PM)
- Connect with С²ÝÉçÇø faculty, staff, students, and industry stakeholders.
- Learn more about С²ÝÉçÇø’s Lab Schools and their innovative work.
- Explore collaboration opportunities in our design thinking studio and makerspace.
Session 2: Family-Friendly Open Makerspace & Series Launch (5:00 – 7:00 PM)
- Participate in hands-on makerspace activities including 3D printing, laser cutting, robotics, and textiles.
- Engage in family-friendly activities designed to spark creativity.
- Enjoy guided tours of the Innovation Lab and design thinking studio.
- Visit Lab School showcases featuring highlights from each school.
